Civil engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and natural built environment, such as bridges, roads, canals, dams, and structures The Department of Civil Engineering employs highly trained and experienced personnel who assist in reawakening latent inquisitiveness in students' brains. Theoretical and experimental considerations are also addressed. The department features a well-developed infrastructure, including distinct classrooms and well-equipped laboratories.

The vision of the department is to become a leading center of excellence in civil engineering education which will be highly recognized at national and international level as well as contributing to the technology for the sustainable development of the society.

MISSION

The mission of the Civil Engineering Department is:

M1 - Educating and improving the level of thinking of students, which can help them to understand and increase the power of observation in various fields of civil engineering.

M2 - To provide a holistic environment so that our graduates can easily adapt and get moulded in a professional environment.

M3 - To develop an ethical attitude, skill, team work and ability to relate engineering issues to social context.

Program Education Objectives (PEOs)


PEO-1: To provide graduates with a basic fundamental tool which can be applied in engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PEO-2: To understand the present need of society and develop a reliable source for future development.

PEO-3: To understand design and development of our system through uses of modern tools.

PEO-4: To provide a professional environment and develop their personality.

PEO-5: To improve the co-ordination with sub co-ordinate with individual skill development.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

The B.E. Degree Programme in Civil Engineering is offered in the department with the following programme specific objectives:

PSO - 1 Graduates of this Programme with proficiency in mathematics and physical sciences will excel in the core areas of civil engineering such as structural, environmental and water resources engineering.

PSO - 2 The graduates will plan, produce detailed drawings, write specification, and prepare cost estimates.

PSO - 3 The graduates will interact with stakeholders effectively and execute quality construction work applying necessary tools.

Program Outcomes (POs)


1. Engineering Knowledge: Graduates can apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to Civil Engineering related problems.
2. Problem Analysis: An ability to identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse Civil engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using principles of mathematics and engineering sciences.
3. Design/Development of Solutions: An ability to plan, analyse, design and implement engineering problems and design system components or processes to meet the specified needs.
4. Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: An ability to use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5. Modern Tool Usage: An ability to apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6. The Engineer and Society: An ability to apply contextual knowledge to assess societal, legal issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7. Environment and Sustainability: An ability to understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8. Ethics: An ability to apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
